Overview

Nayanogor Somity is a cooperative society and microfinance management platform built to replace manual paper and Excel-based operations with a centralized digital system.

The platform manages members, savings, loans, DPS, daily collections, accounting, financial reports, branches, and user permissions in one connected application.

The Challenge

Traditional cooperative societies often depend on paper ledgers and spreadsheets. Managing multiple financial transactions, loan repayments, guarantors, collections, and accounting manually can make reconciliation difficult and limit real-time visibility.

The Solution

I designed and developed a full-stack platform where business operations and accounting work together. Every major financial movement is processed through transactional workflows and reflected in a double-entry accounting ledger.

Key Features

  • Member & nominee management
  • Savings and DPS management
  • Loan lifecycle and guarantor validation
  • Daily collection with multiple income heads
  • Double-entry accounting and ledger
  • Multi-branch management
  • Financial reports with PDF & Excel export
  • Role-based permissions and audit logs
  • Bengali and English interface

Engineering Highlights

Double-Entry Accounting

Every financial movement creates balanced debit and credit entries, keeping ledgers, cash books, and reports consistent.

Transactional Integrity

Financial operations such as collections, withdrawals, and loan disbursements are handled inside database transactions.

Guarantor Validation

Loan guarantor coverage is validated against the guarantors' live savings and DPS balances.

Reporting Architecture

Heavy reporting and ledger calculations are handled through PostgreSQL functions for efficient set-based processing.

What I Learned

This project strengthened my experience in financial system design, transactional database architecture, scalable reporting, and full-stack application development. It also reinforced the importance of treating accounting logic as a core part of the system rather than an additional reporting layer.
